Date Night!

Last Saturday Matt and I had our first date night since March! Our friend Bree came over and watched Emma for us, and we went out to dinner and then went to see Grace Potter and The Nocturnals downtown. It was a lot of fun, and quite nice to have some alone time with Matt. Dinner was great (Olive Garden never fails us), and the concert was even better! If you aren't a fan of Grace Potter and The Nocturnals, you should be! She rocks out and plays great music. Here's a taste:

Here's a picture of Matt and I at the concert! So much fun!

5 Months Old!

Emma just turned 5 Months! She melts our hearts daily, and we love her so much! She is now rolling onto her tummy every day, and her eye/hand coordination is getting better by the minute. She reaches out for us now, and it just tugs at our heart strings! We just had her doctor visit, and she weighed in at 14 lbs 7 oz, and measured 26 inches long! The doctor said she is growing great, and that we could start her slowly on baby food. We have tried carrots, sweet potatoes, bananas, and squash so far. We also tried giving her rice cereal, but she was not a fan of that. So we have stuck to the baby foods. She really likes the sweet potatoes, bananas, and squash, you know the sweet stuff (must have my genes!) But was not a fan of the carrots. She fits into her highchair that Grandma Entwistle bought her, and she loves to hang out in it! She is higher up off the ground, so she likes to see what's going on. We also have a jumper that she likes to play in, although she can't quite sit up straight in it on her own yet. When she is on her tummy she tries her hardest to crawl and move, but just can't yet! Here are some pictures of our sweet Emma:

Why I work at the Huntsman Cancer Institute

I am so impressed by the patients at my work who are fighting cancer. I can't imagine getting such a scary diagnosis, and being able to continue to inspire and bring so much laughter into other people's lives. This patient in the link below has an amazing attitude and always makes us laugh when he comes in. He is truly inspiring!

Kid Interviews

While Jess and Mitch were staying with us, Matt did a video interview with them... just for fun. Here are the videos. SO Cute. (don't worry Mom and Dad, the videos are set to private on youtube).

Love these kiddos!!

Swim Day!

While Jessica and Mitch were staying with us, we went to the pool and did some swimming! They were both so excited to get in the water. I was taking pictures, and the entire time Jessica kept asking if I was recording or taking pictures. She decided it was OK if I recorded video, but it was absolutely not OK if I took pictures. I snuck a few pictures in :) Mitch was very brave, and with some coaxing from Matt jumped into the pool into Matt's arms. After the first time he did it, he was so excited and wanted to do it over, and over, and over! He was so excited that Matt had to tell him to wait a few seconds so he could catch him. Here is the video, sorry it's sideways, I couldn't figure out how to rotate it :(

We had so much fun at the pool, and it definitely wore them out! Here are a few pictures, I didn't get any good pictures of Jessica, because she thought she was being "recorded".

Kid Extravaganza!

Last weekend while Crissy and Owen went on their amazing honeymoon to Hawaii (so jealous), we took Jessica and Mitch to our house for the night. They had sugar flowing through their veins from all the sweets they had previously eaten at the reception. Right before we left the reception I saw Mitch eat at least 3 more chocolate truffles from the buffet. Needless to say, they had a lot of energy! We did get them into bed around 11 p.m., which Matt and I were both pretty proud about. We had fed Emma at 11 also, so we were certain we wouldn't be waking up to feed her until 6 or 7, we were set.... or so we thought.

1:30 a.m.: Jessica wakes up crying because her legs hurt (poor girl). The only thing we could think of was that she had been running around all day in dress shoes and that may have caused it. Matt ended up lying next to her until she fell back asleep.

3:00 a.m. Mitch wakes up crying, because he wants to go home (that was his first reason for crying). We talked him through it, and eventually he told us he was "so hungry!". Poor kid, he had a sandwich and fruit at the reception, before all the sugar, but by 3 a.m. he was starving. Matt made him some chicken nuggets, and fed them to Mitch as he lied in my lap sniffling.

5:00 a.m. Emma wakes up to eat. I got up with her since Matt had already been up twice, and she was hungry! I fed her and she went right back to sleep ... until 7 a.m.

Needless to say, it was an eventful weekend! We were so tired by the time we took them home. We did some swimming while they were here, and I'll put up some pictures in my next post. Love those kiddos so much, but not ready for 3 yet!!

Emma's Smiles

Getting Emma to smile is not that hard, especially if she's just eaten or woken up from a nap. She has the biggest smiles for us in the morning, which makes getting up every day at 7 a.m. (or earlier) with her so worth it. We do the silliest things to get her to laugh and smile! Here are a couple of recent "Emma smiles":

First swim day, sooo happy!

Just woke up from a nap

Mom, look what I can do!

I can't believe how fast babies grow, I now understand why parents tell their kids not to grow up so fast! Emma is learning and growing weekly, and it's sometimes hard to keep up! We try to document everything on camera or video so that we can look back and remember when she was "younger". She will do things for a week, and then not do it again at all! Her "new" thing for this week is grabbing her feet with her hands, and sucking on her toes. I think it is the cutest thing ever, and always laugh at her when she does it. She has also found her thumb, and has been sucking on that too. Both Matt and I were thumb suckers, so it's inevitable that she will be too. She has also been rolling over onto her tummy lots, and is so proud of herself when she does it. She hasn't figured out how to get back onto her back yet, so she gets tired from holding her head up and will start to fuss a little for us to help her. She is full of smiles and giggles for us, and we find that our faces hurt from smiling so much. Here are a couple pictures of what Emma's been up to:
